The Burgundy Brick Foundation are Canada’s Youth Volunteers of the Year According to Canadian Urban Institute
Toronto, Ontario, June 9 – The Burgundy Brick Foundation will join other Canadian organizations and individuals on June 9 at the Liberty Grand in Toronto at the 8th annual Urban Leadership Awards to receive a 2011 Urban Leadership Award in the Youth category. This award is given to individuals or organizations under the age of 30 who have demonstrated extraordinary qualities of leadership, outstanding citizenship and contribution to city or community building.
“The Burgundy Brick Foundation began with the underlying goal of creating unique and social ways to improve our city of Toronto,” said Alexandra De Gasperis, Founder and Executive Director, The Burgundy Brick Foundation. “To be recognized by the Canadian Urban Institute as leaders of contribution to our community offers us a proud moment, but more importantly motivates us to keep spreading awareness and working hard to make that valuable difference.”
The Burgundy Brick Foundation is a committed to supporting existing not-for-profit initiatives within the City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Since 2007, the BBF team has grown from a small group of Toronto youth (under 30) to a fully voluntary committee, ambitiously working towards the organization’s common goal.
The Urban Leadership Awards program has been paying tribute to individuals, groups and organizations that have made a profound and lasting impact on the quality of life in Canada’s cities and urban regions and the Burgundy Brick Foundation is honoured to join the other amazing recipients that have received Urban Leadership Awards since its inception in 2004.
The Burgundy Brick Foundation Put on Their Hard Hats for the Women’s Build
The Burgundy Brick Foundation is Named Women Ambadassdor’s for Habitat for Humanity’s 2011 Women’s Build
Toronto, Ontario, June 9 – The ladies of the Burgundy Brick Foundation have been selected as 2011 Women Ambassadors. On Saturday, May 7 they joined the other inspirational “Habitat Angels” to lift a hand at the new Kingston road build site.
“We’ve been involved with Habitat for Humanity Toronto for five years, attending more than a few one-day builds and to be selected among so many hard-working and inspiring women in Toronto means so much to all of us,” said Alexandra Nikolajev, Managing Director, The Burgundy Brick Foundation.
Habitat for Humanity Toronto recognizes that women wear so many different hats in life. As mothers, daughters, wives, partners, sisters, friends, business and community leaders, philanthropists and volunteers. This women’s build provides the opportunity for women to consider wearing a hat that they’ve possibly never worn before – a hard hat. In doing this they are able to help so many deserving families in Toronto reach their dream of having a home to call their own.
“These women were not only named Women Ambassador’s because of the monetary donations that they have provided to Habitat for Humanity Toronto, it is the awareness they have created around our organization that really counts,” said Neil Hetherington, CEO, Habitat for Humanity Toronto.
The Burgundy Brick Foundation is inspired by the hard-working and deserving recipient families in Toronto and to be able to represent the women of Toronto as an ambassador and motivate others to get involved and lend a helping hand is what this is all about. If you’d like to participate in a build in the future, please feel free to contact us at team@burgundybrick.org.
